A paint which hardly spatters during painting using a paint roller
We have developed a paint focused on easy painting. A technology to prevent spattering of paints also helps reduce the environmental impact.

What is a paint that hardly spatters during painting using a paint roller?
We have been developing a paint that hardly spatters during painting so that users can enjoy painting casually using a paint roller. Spattering can be reduced by increasing the paint viscosity, but this makes painting difficult. Thus, we focused on other physical properties. Specifically, we paid attention to spinnability and first normal stress difference (normal stress). These two physical properties were adjusted to develop a paint that is easy to apply and hard to spatter.

What are the key features of this technology?
We observed the movement of paint rollers during painting and the process of applying paint. We improved the physical properties of the paint with the two following points in mind. 1. Minimize generation of sticky paint strings when a paint roller is removed from the painted surface (low spinnability) 2. Allow sticky strings to return to the paint roller and the painted surface the moment they snap, just like a rubber band (high first normal stress difference)

Contribution to solving social issues
This technology is applicable to various painting methods in addition to painting using paint rollers. Prevention of spattering helps reduce the environmental impact. It is also likely to reduce the protection costs for preventing spattering. This will contribute to reducing social costs.
